The digital divide just got narrower in the Mexican state of Oaxaca.

Indigenous Zapotec communities have already established a local landline and cellular-phone service at a fraction of the cost of services\ provided by Telcel, the giant monopoly presided over by billionaire Carlos Slim.

Now, with their plans to expand approved by regulators, they’re aiming to provide affordable satellite Internet to remote mountain communities.
