Chile wants its mylodon back

Like Greece, Iraq and other countries, Chile seeks the repatriation of significant elements of its national heritage from European countries.

Chile is specifically looking for the return of the skeleton of a mylodon from The Natural History Museum in London — looted from Chilean territory and sold long ago by German settlers.

In addition to the mylodon, Chile seeks the return of cultural heritage items from Easter Island, including a large collection at the Kon Tiki Museum in Norway, and a moai (stone head) that was gifted to Queen Victoria.
